Hi everyone,
As we look ahead, it feels only right to first take a moment to look back — because 2025 was a year that reminded us who we are, and what we are capable of together.
Last year, Canada proudly hosted the Pan American Club Crew Championships in Montreal, and what a statement that event made. From the energy on the water to the spirit on the docks, Montreal showed everyone what Canadian dragon boat racing looks like at its best. The organization, the volunteers, the clubs, the officials, and the athletes all came together to deliver an event we can truly be proud of. It was more than a championship; it was a celebration of our community.
And then came Germany.
At the 17th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships, our multiple crews delivered a performance for the history books. Fifty-one gold medals. Let that sink in. Those results were not just about podium finishes — they were about years of commitment, early mornings, cold practices, shared sacrifices, and an unshakeable belief in each other. That success reflected the strength of our athletes, the expertise of our coaches, and the depth of our programs from coast to coast.
2025 reminded all that Canada belongs among the very best in the world.
Now, we turn the page to 2026 — and once again, the future looks bright.
We are excited to be preparing for the second edition of the Can American Club Crew Championships, building on the momentum of its inaugural success. This event represents more than competition; it represents collaboration, opportunity, and the continued strengthening of our relationships. It is another chance to showcase excellence — not just in racing, but in how we host, how we welcome, and how we lead.
Beyond that, 2026 will see Canadian clubs and crews heading to Hualien, Taiwan, to compete at the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships. This is a powerful moment for club-based racing in our country. Every team making that journey carries with them not only their own ambitions, but the pride of their clubs, their communities, and Canada as a whole. The commitment it takes to reach that stage is extraordinary, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone preparing to represent us on the world stage.
As President, I am continually inspired by what this community accomplishes when we pull in the same direction.
The past has proven our strength.
The present shows our unity.
And the future — without question — is full of promise.
Thank you to our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, partners, and clubs for everything you do, every single day, to move our sport forward.
Let’s carry this momentum into 2026 — together.
Thank you,

Julie Robitaille – DBC President
