Membership Information

There are four classes of affiliation with DBC as defined in the DBC By-laws. They are Individual, Club, Festival and Corporate.

No Individual member can be a member of more than one club during the membership year unless approved for a transfer by DBC.

DBC’s membership year is May 1 – April 30.

All coaches travelling with DBC sanctioned crews (World Championships, CCWC etc.) must be a DBC Individual member. Members acting in more than one role/capacity are required to pay only one Individual membership fee.

Membership Cards

All DBC members receive an accreditation card to be used as ID at club crew races, the Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships, and National Team Trials. DBC ID Cards are the only accepted ID for marshalling purposes. 

Individual Membership

An individual including a paddler, coach, official, steersperson or supporter. Individuals may be a member of only one club.

Fee - $15.00+GST per individual (unlimited number of crews within same club)

Individual Membership Process

Individuals wishing to become individual members that are not members of a club are to contact DBC directly.

If you belong to a club, your club is responsible for completing your membership.

Club Membership

A dragon boat racing club comprised of a minimum of 18 individual members

Fees:

18-30 individual members $50.00 + GST
100 individual members $100.00 + GST 31-
101-200 individual members $150.00 + GST
201-300 individual members $200.00 + GST
301 or more individual members $250.00 + GST

Festival Membership

An individual, corporation, unincorporated organization or other person that owns or organizes a dragon boat festival or racing event in Canada.

Fees are based on event size.

$100.00 First year events
$100.00 up to 50 registered crews
$150.00 up to 51 to 100 registered crews
$200.00 101 crews or more

Festival Membership Process

1.Complete the Festival Application form providing all requested information.
2.Acknowledge understanding and adherence to DBC’s Safety Protocol
3.Submit the completed form with a cheque and the appropriate fee to:

Club Crew Sport Races may be held independently or within a Festival. Club Crew sport races must abide by the rules and regulations of DBC racing and cannot be mixed with regular community members. To gain status as a sport racing festival, an application including pertinent information on the sport racing must be reviewed and approved by the DBC Sport Festival Sanctioning Committee.

Corporate Membership

An individual, corporation, unincorporated association or other person, including a dragon boat club (other than a club member), a sport association, a business involved in the sport of dragon boat racing or a sport activity centre, interested or involved in furthering or promoting the objects of DBC.

Transfers

Members who are relocating may be granted permission to transfer by the club from which they have departed. Transfers must be approved by DBC and a Transfer Request Form completed

 

Honorary Membership

An individual, corporation, unincorporated organization or other person designated as such by the Board.
